The Hammer Gets Nailed-- Twice!
http://blog.browndemocrats.org/archives/000802.php

You know, it was one thing the other week when two close associates of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay became the subject of intense investigation for corrupt business dealings with Native American tribes over casino plans-- with one, lobbyist Jack Abramoff, taking the 5th before a congressional committee and the other, former DeLay spokesman Mike Scanlon, "hiding out" from federal marshalls seeking to similarly subpoena him. And when simultaneously, a Texas grand jury indicted several other aids and associates, plus several big corporate entities (including Bacardi, Sears, Cracker Barrel and Westar Energy) for illegally funnelling funds to DeLay's Texas-based PAC. Of course it was also interesting, but still not yet blog-worthy for your eyes (especially when the DCCC has been covering this all so tirelessly over at The Stakeholder), when our side's ensuing attacks on candidates who have received money from DeLay's tainted PAC and refused to return it began to take hold, with even GOP candidates in Louisiana-- a state not particularly known for ethics in government as of the last century or so-- began to back out of being seen near Dennis Hastert's puppeteer. Likewise, when rumors of an impending political demise began to swirl, and even conservative legal group Judicial Watch (to be fair, a consistent gadfly on behalf of ethics and openneness in government despite their Clinton-obsession in the last decade-- after all, they did help the Sierra Club sue Cheney's energy task force) was calling for DeLay's head on a platter.....
