Remember that scene in the comedy High Anxiety, where Mel Brooks performs the title song? His character aims for Rat Pack edginess, style and swagger, but succeeds only in conveying unease and unfocussed menace as he abruptly barks the lyrics and ostentatiously snaps his microphone cord like a ringmaster's whip.....
